Leap into Kindergarten

Arleta Leap into Kindergarten takes place over four dates in August: from 9-11 a.m. August 10, 11, 17, and 18 at Arleta. Families are invited to attend any of the sessions you can. Registration for Leap Into K is not required, but we encourage families to attend. Students must be enrolled in Kindergarten at Arleta for the coming school year to attend.

Leap Into Kindergarten is a Family Transition Program for families and incoming kindergartners. Parents and other caregivers will attend with their Kindergarteners and there will be childcare onsite for siblings. 

The program goal is to create a smooth and caring transition to Kindergarten with a focus on building relationships and practicing the routines foundational to the Kindergarten day. The basic structure is for families and child to enter school together at 9 a.m., be welcomed, then head to one of our kindergarten classrooms to join our Arleta Kindergarten Staff for:

• 30-minute welcome & practice drop-off/classroom entry routines with students and their grownups
• 60-min concurrent classroom session for students, with morning meeting and literacy routines and family session with a guest speaker
• 30-minute snack and interactive story time with students and families together

The four family sessions have different Arleta Community “hosts,” to be determined shortly.
